10 activities-one for each one of your Common Core Informational Text Standards. This is a generic menu that can be used with any informational text. It is sustainable and can be used repeatedly as titles change to ensure mastery of the standards by your students. Activties have been strictly aligned to Grade 4 Standards and embody the rigor and mandates of the CCSS Shifts. Each activity comes with a student response sheet for formative assessments.
*Introduce activities whole class over the course of 3-4 weeks. Provide exemplars and model quality responses to the texts.
*Then use for Guided Reading. Give menus to students working independently at their seats and allow them to choose 2-3 activities from the menu while you pull your small groups of guided readers.
*Enlarge each activity and create 10 Informational Text Literacy Stations. Assign students to stations using readiness and need for repeated practice with specific standards for formative assessments. Students can work at stations while you pull small groups of guided readers.
