Interactive reading notebooks are a great way to make students responsible for their learning. Students put them together and then use them as a reference tool throughout the year!
This reading interactive notebook is easy to use as there are photos of all the pages completed. It also is a paper saver as the lesson is taught with half a sheet of paper and it is practiced with a half sheet as well. It looks great colored or left as black and white.
I like to initially teach the lesson and glue the poster on one side of the page (color if you have time). Then we do the practice page. Each page has a different activity to keep student interest.
Many teachers use interactive notebooks for whole class learning or as a center. An answer key is included.
Interactive notebook reading topics included are:
Main Idea, Details, Character Traits, Making Inferences, Cause and Effect, Sequencing, Context Clues, Fact and opinion, Predicting outcomes, Drawing Conclusions, Summarizing, Compare and Contrast, Author's Purpose, Point of View, Characters, Plot, Setting, Problem/Solution, Theme, Alliteration, Hyperbole, Onomatopoeia, Simile, Metaphors, Idioms, Personification, Poetry, Drama, Asking Questions, Prefixes, Suffixes, Types of Print, Visual Features, Dictionary, Contractions, Charts, Maps and Graphs, Synonyms/ Antonyms, Compound Words, Mood, Synthesize and Multiple Meaning Words.
This notebook is ideal for third and fourth grade, and is great for higher level second graders.
