Last summer, I finally got my son to read. He's normally not a big reader, but he decided to go through the ENTIRE series of "Diary of a Whimpy Kid." As part of the incentive to get him there, we used these journal pages that I made so that he could prove that he had done the reading he said he had done. Since we were able to keep track of what he had read, we were able to treat him to DQ because he had met his goal of 10 books for the summer.
That being said, these pages include a "bookshelf" for kids to write in the titles of the books that they are interested in reading. There is also a pledge sheet where they can make a promise (to you and to themselves) about how many books they want to try to read, as well some log sheets that help them keep track of how much they have read in any given book as well as for how long. They can also rate the book on what they thought (from Love to Ick). Use the back pages to make more copies of the log in case you have an enthusiastic reader!
