Many children don’t enjoy reading because they don’t understand some of the words in the passages. Other students enjoy reading very much but often fail to comprehend all that they’ve read because they don’t try to figure out unfamiliar words. This does not help them learn to strategically think and eventually succeed in the real world. This lesson does this by breaking down context clues strategies into digestible, “bite-size” pieces and includes a very thorough Domain 1 and 2 according to Marzano. In addition, the levels of rigor based on Common Core standards are also included.
