This is the absolute BEST way to motivate students to improve their writing! The results are AMAZING!
My third graders learned how to use quotes within a quote, indention for dialogue, a colon, and hyphenation just to name a few of their very sophisticated discoveries.
Encourage students to "change their perspective." Once they begin "reading like writers" it completely changes their thinking. You will see writing improve as students begin to read and write with more curiosity and critical thinking.
