Reading Logs are an excellent way for students to practice the reading comprehension skills they have been learning in class!
Send these reading logs home with your students over the weekend. Each day, students will read a set amount of time and record on the log about their reading.
Each of the included three reading logs is designed to help practice specific reading comprehension strategies, including:
-Sequence of Events
These are great supplementary homework activities that help students apply the strategies that they have been learning in class to their own reading.
I have used these reading logs in my own third grade class to encourage students to write complete sentences and read carefully, not quickly. I have found that these reading logs are also excellent assessment tools for me. They not only help me see how well my students understand and apply different reading comprehension strategies, but also their ability to put their thoughts on paper.
