Reading Log for April with Baseball Theme and Activities
This is an 8-page document that is intended to get your students excited about reading for the month of April. This document contains several fun activities to go along with the upcoming baseball season.
The first page(see free preview) has students create a team name, design a jersey, and create 7 other opposing teams. This page is followed by a four week "schedule" for the students to use for reading. The more students read in a day, the more runs they earn in the game.
At the end of the four week schedule, students are asked to create a trading card of a favorite book character.
Included in the document is a page that lists all of the Major League Baseball teams and a United States map that they can use to label where the teams are located. Also included are certificates of participation, along with a Grand Slam, Home Run, and a Triple certificate for most minutes read.
In the past, I have introduced this by playing some sort of baseball song like "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" or "Centerfield". I have also given the students peanuts before.
