Students use this sheet to keep track of their metacognitive thinking through text. This Thought tracking calendar lists the reading/thinking strategies on the left side of the page, and then gives them space to jot down their thoughts while they read. There is a teacher section below the student section that allows the teacher interact with the students thoughts. This allows the teacher to be able to confer with students, and keep track of strengths and weaknesses of a students reading/thinking strategies. There are two pages on this file. I print them front and back so that they are altogether and easy for students to use. I have reformatted this reading log from Cris Tovani. I have taken her idea but added more information to make it easier for students to keep track of their own thinking. Hope you enjoy!
