Product Description
Reading is fundamental, but how do you know that a student is really comprehending what s/he is reading? That's where reading responses come into play. You can use these sheets as a reading/writing center, or you can send them home and use them for homework.

I've updated it - This packet now includes both horizontal and vertical formats - every sheet comes in both formats...you choose which one you want to use:)

I also sell this same packet for the younger kids. It has primary writing lines. Check it out:
Reading Homework - K-3rd - Reading Logs and Reading Response Sheets

Included in this packet is:
- a letter to parents telling them how to use the reading logs at home
- 3 different reading logs and response sheets for picture books
- 1 chapter book reading log and response sheet
- 1 nonfiction book reading log and response sheet
- 3 different compare/contrast reading log and response sheets (3 T-Charts and 3 Venn Diagrams)

The sheets are organized so that a student needs one sheet each week. Each day, they need to read a book (or chapter) and reply to something about it. Here is a list of concepts that kids need to respond to in the reading log/response sheets:
- favorite part
- beginning, middle, end
- make predictions
- main character
- setting
- major events
- main idea and details
- nonfiction (facts you learned)
- compare and contrast yourself and the main character
- compare and contrast where you live and the book's setting
- compare and contrast 2 characters in book
- compare and contrast 2 books you read

The different logs address various standards including: sequence of events, setting, characters, problem, solution, making predictions, main idea and supporting details, nonfiction facts and supporting details, compare/contrast, and many more!

Note that each log is for Monday through Thursday.

This packet is part of this growing back to school bundle. Check it out. You might like it better:)
