I love the idea of children reading throughout the month as they have time, and also as they become engrossed in a particular story. I share a bit about how I decided to switch from a traditional reading log structure on my blog. You can read the post by clicking HERE.
This reading log has room for four books a month: two fiction and two non-fiction. For each entry, the students will respond with a picture of something that relates to the story. The directions are open ended and give students an opportunity to read a wide variety of texts.
