Students take notes, with the use of a provided guide, on informational books they are assigned. They then write a weekly letter to document the assigned reading. This lesson works for assigned books in all subjects including social studies and science. It is a 6 - 8 grade, interactive, year long lesson. It greatly boosts comprehension of expository reading 4 ways.
1. Students must do more than just read the assigned book
