Start by introducing the vocabulary specific to the reading passage, read the passage several times to promote comprehension and fluency, then do the follow-up worksheet that reviews the vocabulary, asks comprehension questions and gives the students a chance to make an illustration that relates to the passage.
Included in this product are 10 non-fiction, close reading passages.
Each passage has a follow-up worksheet with vocabulary
practice and three questions that are to be answered with
complete sentences. Two of the questions have answers
that can be found in the text and the third question requires
the student to come up with an answer by analyzing
information from the passage. At the bottom
of each worksheet is an illustration box where the student
is asked to illustrate something as described in the passage.
There are two crossword puzzles that review some of the
vocabulary words. Each crossword has one with a word box
and one without. Answer sheets are included for all worksheets.
