Need some help and guidance getting your students' Reading Notebooks set up for the year? This resource is a great tool to help guide students and teachers along, using basic headings to keep learning organized. With its simple layout, it could be started at any point during their learning - no need to wait for the new year to roll around before introducing it to your class.
Each section comes with recommendations of resources that could be used. They include:
- My Reading Life
- Reading Timeline
- Books I Want to Read
- Favorite Books
- My Reading Goals
- Teacher or student generated
- What I'm Learning
- Where students can place anchor charts or notes created in class
- Write About Reading
- Reading Responses (including book reviews, character traits, and book summaries)
Each set comes in three varieties, as seen in the document preview: simple colors, rainbow, and black & white.
It also includes information on how they can be set up, simplified, used and/or changed throughout the year.
I hope you find this resource as helpful and easy to navigate as I have. I use this with my fourth grade classroom, having set up logistics with guidance from teammates, resource staff and other staff members in my school.
