Product Description
In my classroom, students are required to read a minimum of one book per month for homework. While reading, I provide this organizer to assist by guiding their reading and ensuring comprehension. This organizer can be revised for other genres, though I have all if any other ones are desired.
At the beginning of the year, the students and I discussed the genre list, and a lot of students looked forward to January (when I required the genre of fantasy). To start utilizing this organizer, I made the lesson into a brief Math one where each child had to determine their minimum number of pages to read on a nightly basis (which I also discussed overestimates).
Next, we go through the organizer, which hits on a bunch of skills, including: Setting (time and place), character traits, events, problems, resolutions, open-ended and closed questions, critiques, revisions, and summaries.
This is a 4th grade organizer that can easily be modified lower or higher. Thanks for viewing this document, and feel free to email me any questions:
