This reading passage assignment is based on the life of Robert Bunsen, co-inventor of the Bunsen burner. It describes a little about his life, multiple lab explosions, and the creation of the Bunsen burner as a key piece of laboratory equipment. After the article, there are two versions of an analysis assignment that students can complete; one where students answer several key questions using evidence from the text and create a comic of safe lab practices and another where students construct paragraph responses and create a comic of safe lab practices.
