I use this in my 8th and 9th Grade Language Arts classroom as an introduction to poetry form and analysis. I place students in four different groups, and each group has a different poem. I set a timer for six minutes, and students read the poem and then complete the worksheet section. At the end of six minutes, they move to the next group and read a new poem. I provide students with a variety of types of poems, and I try to pick poems that are fun and engaging (like shape poems). Many students enjoy reading the different types of poetry because they didn't realize there were so many!
