PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

King of the class reading vocabulary A - F game is designed to help students identify words or help students master the definition of the word. The King of the Class games are designed for two students per game board or whole game activity. This game can also be used as a center activity or an RTI activity. Each game board has the same vocabulary words on them but rearranged making each game board different. Words included in this game Fridge, Defiance, Filibuster, Familiarize, Credentials, Fortunate, Frustrate, Fiction, Catastrophe, Ambition, Elegant, Garment, Facilitate, Depression, Desegregate, Delicious, Eliminate, Dimensions, Frequency, Fortuitous, Arrogance, Circumstance, Century, Foundation, Accessory. Look for other reading vocabulary word games.

How to play as a classroom activity

Class Activity – Give each person a game board. The teacher or student assistant calls out the word and students identify the word or read the definition and choice the correct word. The first student that gets 5 across, 5 down, or 5 diagonally wins.

Students will pair up. The teacher will designate the amount of time for each round (5 Minutes work in my room). Students will take turns drawing word cards. That student will read the word while the other player will identify the word by placing a maker on the correct word space. Or you can choice to read the definition and identify the definition. If the student is wrong, the other student will show his competitor the question card with the answer and the color chip comes off the board. Right or wrong the question card goes back into the envelope with the other question card. The players will change rolls and repeat the processes over until designated time has elapsed. If a player answers a question card that has already has been marked that player bumps off the other chip and puts his or her chip in its place. The Player with the most color chips on the board wins. I have the winning students put a check by their name on a name chart. When all winning students have placed a check by their name all students pair up with someone else and the process starts all over again. I play about 3 to 4 rounds in one class period. This is a great activity for evaluation, common core, and RTI activity. After my student has done this activity two or three times students become more fluent in their multiplication facts.

Learning Objective: This game is designed to help students master the basic reading word recognition and definition. The students will realize the better they know the word and its meaning the faster they can play and the more chips they will have at the end of the game.
