PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Thank you for going on this reading adventure with me!
I do not claim to be a reading expert. I am evolving as a reading teacher. (Aren’t we all?) I have the same struggles as all classroom teachers. How do I get my strugglers reading fluently with comprehension? How do I ensure the best readers in my class get a year’s worth of growth too? These resources are not meant to be a complete reading curriculum, but rather an enhancement to the amazing things you are already doing in your classroom.
This is a collection of the reading resources that I have created for my own classroom. They have sat on my computer for years. They were created to meet a specific need for students in my actual classroom. As I polish them up for you and your students, I will add them to this resource. I also have lots of new ideas that I will be creating, and they will be added to this resource too. If it makes sense to bundle some of my already published resources to this resource, I will add them periodically too.

Punctuation Power
Taking time to study punctuation deeply will lead to more fluent and expressive readers.
Often, primary students are so deeply focused on decoding that they miss the power of punctuation to help them comprehend what is happening in the text. This resource is designed to help slow young readers down and give them a chance to practice the meaning of punctuation marks. As an additional benefit, it will also help children understand the nuance of emotions in their emotional registry.

Included:
*Punctuation posters for first grade through third grade include period, exclamation point, question mark, comma, apostrophe, quotation marks.
*Punctuation tents for the following punctuation marks include period, exclamation point, question mark, comma, apostrophe, quotation marks.
*Suggestions for games and other uses for punctuation tents.
*Punctuation card game with directions. This game can be played individually or with partners and small groups.
*Additional printables and activities to help your sweeties master punctuation.

Magic E, Open, and Closed Syllables

Suggested Word List is a suggested word list so teachers have a list of words at their fingertips. It is handy to have close by when working on dictation of words and sentences.

Phonics Rule Poster included are these three syllable types: Magic E, Open, and Closed.

Assessment Paper has two sheets per page to save ink and paper.

Magic E Tool Boxes are a wonderful way for students to practice Magic E. They are visual and hands on. Students can cut out the different tool boxes. Then cut the dark line in the middle. This allows students to practice the contrasting CVC and CVCe words.

Open & Closed Syllable Trucks are also visual and hands on. Students can cut out the different trucks. Then cut the dark line in the middle. This allows students to practice the contrasting open and closed syllables.

Fluency Cards can be used to sort into three categories: Magic E, Open, and Closed. They can also be used for fluency practice. It is quite a transition for students to decode Magic E quickly after the extensive work in short vowels. (Syllable labels are provided for sorting activities.)
