Not your typical book report! For this project, students choose a main character from a book or story they have recently read. They will then place 3 objects in a shopping bag, all of which must represent something about the character (personality, appearance, interest/hobbies, etc.) There are many ways to tailor this lesson exactly for your students - either make it more challenging, or more streamlined and concrete. You can require students to present their project, write up their explanations, included quotes, etc. LOTS of good ideas. Perfect for grades 6 - 12.
My students love this project, and they love finding or making objects to include in their shopping bag. Presentation day is a lot of fun as students show off their great ideas. This is a nice project to do as an independent unit.
