This Reading Response Homework Notebook by Teach to Inspire is all you need for weekly written responses to your students reading for the entire school year!
*2 sizes/types of front cover labels
*2 levels of clearly stated direction cards to differentiate for emergent writers and beginning writers.
*2 rubrics...one for each direction card
*3 Data Recording Sheets
First, you need to provide a notebook for each student. (I prefer to use primary composition notebooks that have the picture box on the top and primary lines below for writing. You can differentiate the type of notebook based on your students' abilities.)
Then, you can use a glue stick to adhere the labels provided on the front of the notebook. After that, adhere the Reading Response directions to the inside front cover and the rubric to the inside back cover.
Send it home weekly and by the end of the year you will have a dated, organized record of your students' writing progress that shows a clearly defined task and a rubric. You provide the score, comments, and next steps to guide your students' progress.
Use the data collections sheets provided to record your students scores on the writing rubric and keep them in your data binder.
