Do you have your students do 20 minutes of reading at night? Want to have a way to hold them accountable? Here is a great way! This is a way for them to not only be held accountable but also a way for them to practice active reading!
They will have to write about a character, the timeline, vocabulary, problem/solution, or summarize the chapter every night. They will choose one of these skills and write about what they read that evening. Once they choose one of the categories they may not choose that category for the rest of the week.
This will help them learn how to write paragraphs as well as use their active reading strategies !
Have the students glue these directions into their homework notebooks or folders to refer to during their 20 minutes of reading time.
