This is a compilation of reading response prompts organized by Bloom's Taxonomy levels. These prompts fit with the Common Core as they require students to justify their thinking with reasons and evidence from the text.
**Note- There are two charts, one for FICTION prompts, and one for NONFICTION prompts.
Here are the FICTION prompts from the Evaluation level of Bloom's Taxonomy:
Was the main character in this story good or bad? Support your opinion with words from the text.
What is your opinion of the story? Did you enjoy reading it? Explain.
Do you agree with all of the facts in the story? Explain your opinion.
Compare this story with other stories you have read in the past. Give evidence from the texts.
Would you read other stories like this? Justify your opinion.
Rate the story on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the highest. Defend your rating.
Determine how this story compares to other stories of the same genre. Support your evaluation.
Determine what the author is really trying to say with this story (theme). Support with proof.
Examine the author’s craft. What was good about their writing?
Judge how the author built to the climax/suspense of the story. What is your opinion on how they did?
Are the characters that the author developed realistic? Too perfect? Too many problems? Explain your thinking.
Examine a character’s actions, values, behavior. With which do you agree? Disagree?
