These Daily Reading Response sheets can be used to help review the deeper comprehension standards. Students can respond to a book that is read aloud by the teacher or a parent, a book they listen to online or from a CD in a listening station, or a book they read independently. They are aligned to the new TEKS, but can be used with any state standards.
These are perfect for students to use during station time while the teacher is working in guiding reading small groups. I suggest you provide students with examples and/or sentence stem starters to help them, so they have a place to begin.
There are fiction and non-fiction options. They vary in difficulty, so you can differentiate for your students also use them at different times of the school year. Some have lines to write on for students who are ready for that and some just have open space to write or draw pictures.
These could also be used as homework for students to answer throughout the week.
Another idea would be to have students answer these questions after reading in a guided reading group...one question per day as a teaching point.
These can be used in any order that a teacher chooses, depending on the skill that he/she is wanting his/her students to work on. You could also allow students to choose the ones they complete.
