Product Description

These Daily Reading Response sheets can be used to help review the deeper comprehension standards. Students can respond to a book that is read aloud by the teacher or a parent, a book they listen to online or from a CD in a listening station, or a book they read independently. They are aligned to the new TEKS, but can be used with any state standards.

These are perfect for students to use during station time while the teacher is working in guiding reading small groups. I suggest you provide students with examples and/or sentence stem starters to help them, so they have a place to begin.

These could also be used as homework for students to answer throughout the week.

Another idea would be to have students answer these questions after reading in a guided reading group...one question per day as a teaching point.

These can be used in any order that a teacher chooses, depending on the skill that he/she is wanting his/her students to work on. You could also allow students to choose the ones they complete.

There are a few different versions... for fiction and for non-fiction. The Question page is meant for students to use over and over again. Students can choose a question each day that matches the genre of text they are reading. Each box has a “Question Code” in the black square. Students will write this code on their recording sheet to show the question they chose. I tell my students they have to choose a different question each day, but that is a teacher preference.

They will answer the questions on the Recording Sheet. There is a place to write the title on the Recording Sheet as well.

There are 3 Recording Sheet options

•Days of the week Monday-Thursday

•Day #s---Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4

•Date Space for students to write the date

The question boxes can also be cut apart and glued into a journal or separate piece of paper.

Another version has 4 questions on a page that are important for students to answer as they are reading.
