This short e collection is one of a series of game cards used to reinforce phonetic skills taught in first grade. I created this game because I teach small groups of children who frequently need help with different skills. I only have students for 30 minutes, so I need things that are quick, fun and versatile. With these cards I can mix several different sets to help each child where they need it. For example, after we have worked on long vowel sound for a while I add the short vowel cards to the group of cards we are working on to make sure my readers really understand the sounds. I can also add a second skill another student in the group needs to practice.
Cute robots make the game fun for kids while special cards add interest to the game telling children to draw extra cards or pass cards to a friend. The cards are 8 to a page and easy for children to hold. The winner of the game is changed by a selection of cards which tell the student which robot picture must be collected to win the game. All my kids can be winners that way! The cards have the phonetic skill printed on the end of each card, so they are easy to sort by skill after a game. My students love the game and I hope yours do too. I’d love it if you would give the activity a rating.
