Reading SOL Practice Test (SOL 4.4, 4.5 & 4.6)

This fourth grade Reading SOL practice test is a helpful resource for you and your students as you gear up for the spring testing season. The high-interest reading passages and questions support reading standards and are great to use anytime during the year or as part of your end-of-year SOL review activities.

Close to half of the questions mimic technology-enhanced items (TEI); students are asked to shade, circle, and write answers. The remaining questions are multiple choice.

This practice test includes:

• non-fiction passage with questions
• fiction passage with questions
• functional text (flier) with questions
• poem with questions
• 4 stand-alone word analysis questions
• answer key

I like to use this as a small-group or whole-class review. The passages are a little longer than those typically found on the SOL test, so you may wish to have students complete this resource over a few days.
