About These Task Cards
These task cards are different in that each question has been carefully modeled after 3rd Grade STAAR Reading (Texas standardized state test) questions and include a thorough answer key which includes possible text evidence answers. The questions are written in the same style, use similar questioning stems, and are even written in the same font as standardized state tests. The more practice your students have with similar questions, texts, and even font, the more comfortable they will be on the test. These task cards also provide a larger chunk of text, rather than just a sentence.

How to Use
Print the cards, cut down the middle, and laminate (for longer use). You can store them in baggies, plastic boxes, on a ring... the possibilities are endless!
Use these cards in stations, independent work, group work, as a warm up, as an exit ticket, in classroom discussions… however you like!
On the included answer sheet, have your students write down the correct letter on the first line and ask them to provide you with text evidence/support for their answer. This is huge for this standard-- when students get into the routine of having to support their answers with text evidence, it becomes much easier to think this way!
I personally like to keep the answer sheets with the totaled % of mastery for data tracking purposes. See how your kids are progressing, which standard they need more help with, etc.
