Compare and Contrast:

4 Short Stories: Students make up their own stories about a given topic. They then use their own story to compare and contrast. Topic include: Me and My Family, Fox and Friends, School Subjects or Planes and Trains.

2 Reading Passages
2 Large pictures with facts about the story on them stated in “I am…” form.
Students will color similarities one color and differences another color (colors are stated on the page). They will then make their picture colorful!

Students will be asked to analyze two pictures and state how they compare and contrast. Directions for the flapbook are printed on that page.

This resource includes 12 worksheets and passages. Each passage has an underlined word. Students will read a passage and determine the meaning of the underlined word. They will then explain why they chose that meaning. Lastly, students draw a picture of the passage.

While these words may seem difficult, the passages offer enough context clues for the reader to determine the meaning.
Activity Set # 1 (slides 3-9)
Drawing characters can be fun! Students will read a short paragraph and then draw a picture of the character/scene.
Topics include: Color Red, Beach Day, Lunch Time, My Teacher, Candy Store, Dance Recital, Birthday Party
Activity Set # 2 (slides 10-16)
Students will write about character descriptions. They are given a character trait and have to draw a picture and tell a story about their character.
Topics include: Angry, Surprised, Afraid, Cheerful, Confused, Energetic, Dishonest
Activity Set # 3 (slides 17-18)
A boy or girl character map that can be used with any story.
Activity Set # 4 (slides 19-23)
Students will circle descriptive/trait words that relate to the character in the picture. Then they will write a story abut that character using some of the character traits they circled.
