I am making these assessments available if you would like to incorporate them to use as guidance and data when teaching reading and spelling. These assessments are meant to be used in isolation. These assessments are meant to be used in conjunction with the following packets:
There are a total of 8 assessments in this assessment packet: Alphabet Writing Assessments, Letter/Sound Assessment, Closed Syllable Assessment, Vowel-Consonant-e Assessment, r-Controlled Assessment, Vowel Team Assessment, Open Syllable Assessment, and Final Stable -le Assessment.
Reading is as easy as learning 22 vowel sounds! And it is important to teach these vowel sounds in order. These assessments can be used to know exactly where students are performing in their ability to read or spell. After assessing, you will know whether to teach vowel sound 1 or vowel sound 16. These assessments take the guess work out of wondering what reading skills to teach. Also when teaching, you can use the assessments to know what a student's next step in learning should be or what step to spiral back to review if a student is struggling.
This is good data to keep in order to comment on progress notes and report cards.
: These assessments are included in my teaching packet. So if you're interested in having access to basic and useful materials that I use to teach reading check out
