Give your students these quotes and excerpts from Shakespeare, Dickens, Homer, Brim Stoker and E.W Hornung to practice their reading strategies.
I use it as a game. I pass them out (using different quotes to differentiate) and give students a set amount of time to show every reading strategy they know to figure out the meaning, draw what they are visualizing and write it in their own words. The winning students get extra credit towards a reading assignment or fruit snacks.
I would use it in middle school and a Special Education language arts/ English class in high school.
Remember to check back at Ouedraogo's Language Lab frequently for new lesson plans, worksheets and mor.
See you soon!
