This is an informal/diagnostic assessment (in the form of a checklist) to note and check specific, in-depth reading strategies in which students apply. It works best for when assessing students individually or in a very small group setting. It does NOT need to completed all at one time. . .it could be filled in over a period of time.

Checklist includes the application of the three cue systems (visual cues or grapho-phonic, meaning cues or semantics, grammatical cues or syntax) and some specific strategies for each of those 3 categories. There is also a checklist/sections for self-monitoring and self-correcting, Phonological Awareness skills, Early Phonics/Alphabetic Concepts, and Print Concepts (for teachers who have "Skills Groups" v. guided reading groups).
