Reading / Writing Strategy Sticky Notes
Each of the eight pages in this bundle have a literacy strategy represented by it's specific name and picture cue (for example, "Tryin' Lion" has a picture of a lion). There are six stickies to a page and multiple copies of any page can be made to ensure that you have enough stickies for each strategy to use when working with kids.
I use these sticky notes during teacher-student conferences as reminders for students to use particular strategies in their daily literacy practices.
Stickies can be ...
- Placed in student texts when they have (or need to remember to) use a particular strategy
- On pieces of their own writing or on teacher demonstration pieces
- As goal setting: Place stickies that students are working on as goals on one side of a paper or folder and move them to the other side of the paper or folder when the strategy is being used consistently. This is a great tool to use that involves kids in their own metacognition regarding learning. It's also an easy way to show parents what kids are working on.
The visual / tactile reminders reinforce the use of these literacy strategies both in reading (word attack strategies) and writing.
Hope you enjoy!
