This is a great, quick powerpoint that I use to introduce or review the four basic reading strategies that I used in my ELA class.
I use this powerpoint with fifth graders, but you could easily use in a 3rd-6th classroom. This is on powerpoint so feel free to change or add anything you'd like to better fit your students.
The powerpoint starts off with two "hooks" using visuals to come up with a new idea. Ex: broken leg + doctor's tool kit = cast to heal and mend the break.
The goal is for my readers to recall on their strategies when they get stuck on a tricky part.
Strategies in this powerpoint:
3. using sensory images
4. generating questions
You could even print this out in kiddo-friendly version for your students to jot down notes.
