Science teachers not only have to have their students learn and do science, but we must also make sure that our students can read scientific articles and understand what they are reading. Sometimes reading in science can be a bit of challenge, especially when you have a class filled with students at different reading levels.
Annotating the text (a simple version) and reading maps are great ways for students in science to read and reflect on content. I have used these strategies in my classes with GREAT success. All you have to provide is a good scientific article.
