PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Students will participate in an author study of Eve Bunting, and author whose picture books deal with social issues ranging from racism, homelessness, and loneliness. Many of her books are told from the perspective of oppressed peoples and from the perspectives of those who’s voices are often silent in our society. By participating in the shared reading of 10 specifically selected Eve Bunting books, students will learn reading strategies including: questioning, making inferences, identifying the plot and theme, noticing the author’s purpose and craft, and making connections. Students will also, explore the concepts of unearned advantage and oppression as they pertain to the characters in the books. Available at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/Rdeeks
