These A4 cards provide the basis for a reading program that teaches beyond just learning to read the words. They cover the main interpretation strategies of comprehension and are child friendly enough to be used in any classroom. Most importantly they can be used as a planning/assessment and learning intention tool that can be the backbone of a quality reading program. After children have learned to decode and read the text they need to learn these skills such as Inferring (Understanding Urchin) and Asking good questions (Wondering Walrus).
