This bookmark set can be used to help students remember to use specific reading strategies best for their reading. Great for use with your guided reading program and the CAFE reading program. A total of 34 bookmarks are included in this pack!
Each bookmark focuses on a specific reading strategy that falls under “Comprehension”, “Accuracy”, “Fluency”, and “Expanding Vocabulary”. Also included are bookmarks that list all strategies for each given topic (e.g. Comprehension).
-Print bookmarks on cardstock, cut them out and laminate.
-Identify which reading area a student is struggling in (Comprehension, Accuracy, Fluency, Vocabulary).
-Select a strategy that will assist them with their reading and provide a bookmark that focusses on their area of need. For example, a student who has difficulty decoding might benefit from an “Accuracy Bookmark” using the “chunk the word into parts” strategy.
-In your guided reading, teach this strategy to the student, and give them the bookmark to help remind them to use it in their independent reading.
-As they read with you, be sure they bring their bookmark and you can even add small stickers to the space on the bookmark (or the back) to reward them every time you catch them using the strategy.
TIP: Keep the 4 bookmarks that list all the strategies at your guided reading table to quickly and easily prompt students to choose or use a strategy to help them with their reading!
