What's the difference between the free YouTube version and this paid product on TpT?

• Both videos are exactly the same in terms of content and timing.

• The TpT version does not include any background music.

• The TpT version of the video ends immediately after the summary of the reading strategy.

• (The YouTube version includes information about the 21st Century Big Picture connection, as well as other product information, and the usual like and subscribe stuff found at the end of YouTube videos.)

Why would I want to buy this product if the video is posted for free on YouTube?

• This product is for teachers who can't access (or don't want to access) YouTube at school.

• The TpT version is streaming from TpT (or Google Drive or Microsoft Teams) so it does not have any ads or recommended videos to distract your students like YouTube does.

What do I get when I buy this product?

OPTION 1: You get the ability to stream this video directly from the Teachers Pay Teachers website.

This works great if YouTube is blocked by your school because you can sign into your TpT account and play the video for your students.

Please Note:

• Students will not be able to play the video directly from the TpT site. (You have to sign into your TpT account to play the video in class.)

• TpT will show this product as "Streaming Video (cannot be downloaded)" - that's because they do not allow you to directly download the video file from this servers. You can read their support page explaining their thinking.

• If you want to download this video file, please see OPTION 2 below.

OPTION 2: You can download the video file (MP4) using a special dropbox link and then upload the file to your own Google Drive, Google Classroom, Microsoft OneDrive, MicrosoftTeams, etc.

This works great if you don't want your students getting distracted on YouTube.

Please Note:

• The dropbox links to download the video are in the Supporting Document (PDF) that you get when you purchase this product.

• The video file is very large (229 MB). If you have a slow internet connection, it may take some time to download.

• Students DO NOT have to download anything.

• The teacher has to download the video file (MP4) onto their computer.

• Once you have the video file (MP4), you upload it to your Google Drive or Microsoft OneDrive account.

• Then you share that video file with your students in Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams.

• When your students click on the link to the video file, they'll be able to watch the video. (It will be like watching any other streaming video.)

• If you want a supply teacher to show this video in class, you will have to share the video file with that teacher as well. (It's probably easier to just have a student log into their Google Classroom or Microsoft Teams account and play the video.)

QUESTIONS:

1. Is this video SCORM compliant? Will it work in Moodle or other LMS that allow us to track how much of the video has been watched?

• NOT YET, but soon!

• The problem I'm having is the SCORM zipped file is 270 MB and that will probably be too large for teachers to upload to Moodle.

2. That SCORM thing sounds cool. I want to track how much my students have watched. Is that possible in Google Classroom?

• No, unfortunately Google Classroom cannot use SCORM files.

• Students will have to watch the regular video file in Google Classroom. It will NOT report how much of the video has been watched.

3. Is Microsoft Teams SCORM compliant? Can I keep track of how much my students have watched?

• No, unfortunately Microsoft Teams cannot use SCORM files

• (Please note, there seem to be a few exceptions.)

• Students will have to watch the regular video file in Microsoft Teams. It will NOT report how much of the video has been watched.
