This set of 'Reading Strategy' posters targets older readers from upper primary, upper elementary or lower middle school. The posters are designed to remind readers of effective reading strategies, though branch out from the traditional 'cute' designs of younger age groups. Inspired by card games, the posters are bright and vibrant. They feature short catchphrases which remind the students of the reading strategies they have learnt in their younger schooling years - but in an age appropriate manner.
The resource is 7 pages in total - 6 poster pages dedicated to outlining common reading strategies (e.g. asking questions, monitoring, skipping, chunking, visualising, stretching sounds) and 1 page of bookmarks. These bookmarks are ready to be cut and laminated for student use. They can easily be added to guided reading folders or class texts. The posters can be displayed in the classroom as a visual reminder, or copied to use in guided reading sessions which incorporate teacher modelling.
