My students LOVE playing the 4 Corners game, so this year in reading I have been using that same mentality and bringing it into our reading notebooks.
Every week we divide up our notebooks into 4 corners with a simple t diagram. I use it as a spiral review of strategies - one of the main strategies for the week, and 3 that we are reviewing. After a certain section of reading, the students pull out their notebooks and have to record examples of the different strategies into their notebooks.
Sometimes they work with partners or small groups, and afterward we do a full class brainstorm session. Sometimes each corner of the room becomes that strategy, and when in that corner they have to record examples. The latter provides some movement for my active students. Either way, it's been a welcome addition to the classroom.
I use this in conjunction with my Reading Exit Slips. Please check out the preview to see every single page that is included. :)
