Reading is thinking and it is important that our students use the reading strategies as they practice reading. These thinking sheets are designed with an explanation of what the strategy is and how to use it and then a page for students to record how they are using the strategy as they read. Strategies that are reviewed are: context clues, visualizing, connecting, predicting, inferencing, questioning, summarizing, and character traits. The final sheet requires students to apply all of the different strategies as they read. There are nine different thinking sheets in this download, one for each month of the school year (September to May). These thinking sheets are great for holding students accountable for their independent reading and therefore are the perfect companion to a nightly reading log or for students to use during independent reading time during class.
