If you use Reading Street, these contracts will motivate your students by making spelling homework fun! Students choose 3 of the activities to complete to practice their spelling words in a fun and engaging way. Each spelling contract is also translated in Spanish so parents and ELL students can practice their spelling words each week.
Each spelling contract is differentiated and has the spelling words that correlate with each basal story from the unit. I usually give a pretest on Monday of the spelling words (list A words). If they miss 2 or more words on the pretest, I have them study the list A words for the week. If they miss 1 word or less on the pretest, I have them study the list B words instead, which are the more challenging vocabulary words that also correlate with the story for that week.
Be sure to check out all 6 units of spelling contracts! Each of the units have different spelling activities to choose from to keep your students engaged and motivated to learn!
