The Phonics Word charts were created by E.L.L. Teacher, Nancy McCurdy, to follow the phonics pattern for each story in the 2nd Grade 2012 Reading Street series. Each chart allows for repetitive, visual and oral practice of the phonics pattern. Word charts can be analyzed and practiced in large group, small group or at home.
Introduce the chart at the beginning of the week. Highlight the phonics pattern or work through the syllable pattern on Monday. Place the word chart in the student's homework folder for nightly practice and see the results! See the Phonics Power Points I created for additional classroom practice.
Unit 4 includes skills for: consonant + le; vowels “oo” and “u”; vowel dipthongs “ou”, “ow”, “oi”, “oy”; syllable patterns VCV, VCCV, and vowels “oo”, “ue”, “ew”, and “ui”. Excellent visual support for any struggling learner - ELL, SPED, and Intervention.
