Designed as a companion for the Reading Street 4th grade curriculum, these pages center around reading comprehension skills and the types of questions students se of the weekly reading tests, as well as NWEA and ISTEP.
The set is divided into Units (6), Weeks (5-6 per Unit), and Days (4 Days per week). Each week focuses on a different skill, such as: cause and effect, author's purpose, fact and opinion, main idea and details, plot, drawing conclusions, inferring, etc...
Daily Comprehension Review (DCR) can be used as small group practice, whole group modeling, or as bell work to assess mastery of skill. DCR can be used the week the skill is being taught, or later as an intervention/skill review. DCR can be used as a progress monitoring piece for a comprehension skill, or as a practice opportunity.
Passages for each set of questions come from Reading Street and range in reading level from 3.5 - 5.5. Even if you don't use the Reading Street series as your reading curriculum, DCRs are labeled by skill and can be used to practice what comprehension skill your kiddos need, when they need it.
