If you’re using Reading Street, then these writing strips are for you!
**I use the 2011 Common Core Edition of Reading Street.**
We use them as glue in prompts for our spiral notebooks. Just copy,” paper cutter” the left and right sides off, then into strips ready to hand out.
There are 2 Spiral Writes. Both prompt students to reread a particular page of the story and respond. The first question compares to the first tourists to modern day and asks students which they'd rather be. The second question asks about the author's opinion of Bridalveil Fall and what supporting facts she uses.
Each spiral write features guiding questions and bullet points to help students generate high quality writing.
I find these are most useful on “Day 4” of the Reading Street schedule. They’re great to have students reread/review portions of the story, and expand on their reading.
I hope you enjoy these and check back for more spiral writes for the other Reading Street weeks!
