If you’re using Reading Street, then these writing strips are for you!
**I use the 2011 Common Core Edition of Reading Street.**
We use them as glue in prompts for our spiral notebooks. Just copy, "paper cutter” the left and right sides off, then into strips ready to hand out.
There are 2 spiral writes. The first one asks what evidence from the text supports the idea that young Paul Bunyan did well for himself alone in the woods. The second prompt asks students how the tall tale explains changes in nature.
Each spiral write features guiding questions and bullet points to help students generate high quality writing.
I find these are most useful on “Day 4” of the Reading Street schedule. They’re great to have students reread/review portions of the story, and expand on their reading.
I hope you enjoy these and check back for more spiral writes for the other Reading Street weeks!
