If you’re using Reading Street, then these writing strips are for you!
**I use the 2011 Common Core Edition of Reading Street.**
We use them as glue in prompts for our spiral notebooks. Just copy, "paper cutter” the left and right sides off, then into strips ready to hand out.
There are 3 spiral writes for this week's main selection and the follow up (Camp with Care) passage. I omitted the numbers so you could pick and choose.
*How do the smokejumpers get supplies and how are they organized? Why is this helpful to smokejumpers? -at least 3 complete sentences
*What is the main argument or generalization in Camp with Care? Use examples from the text to support your generalization. -at least 3 complete sentences
*Would smokejumpers agree with the message of Camp with Care? Tell why/why not.
-Use evidence from both texts to support your answer
-at least 4 complete sentences
Each spiral write features guiding questions and bullet points to help students generate high quality writing.
I find these are most useful on “Day 4” of the Reading Street schedule. They’re great to have students reread/review portions of the story, and expand on their reading.
I hope you enjoy these and check back for more spiral writes for the other Reading Street weeks!
*Please remember to purchase multiple licenses if purchasing for multiple users*
