If you’re using Reading Street, then these writing strips are for you!
**I use the 2011 Common Core Edition of Reading Street.**
We use them as glue in prompts for our spiral notebooks. Just copy, "paper cutter” the left and right sides off, then into strips ready to hand out.
There are 2 spiral writes for this week's main selection.
1. Vern sometimes calls his brother "Runt" instead of using his real name. Why do you think Vern does this?
*Write at least 2 complete sentences
2. How is Vern's relationship with Gerry different after his fall than it was at the beginning of the story?
-Describe their relationship at the beginning
-Describe their relationship at the end
-Explain why it changed
*Use at least 4 complete sentences
Each spiral write features guiding questions and bullet points to help students generate high quality writing.
I find these are most useful on “Day 4” of the Reading Street schedule. They’re great to have students reread/review portions of the story, and expand on their reading.
I hope you enjoy these and check back for more spiral writes for the other Reading Street weeks!
*Please remember to purchase multiple licenses if purchasing for multiple users :)
