This is a vocabulary organizer that correlates to the reading series created by Scott Foresman "Reading Street". This goes with "The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins". The vocabulary organizer includes a definition, a place for a student written version of the definition, an area to draw a picture representation of the word, and an area for students to write the page number from the textbooks where the term is found. All of these activities align with Marzano's vocabulary strategies.
I always display this chart on my projector each week as I introduce the vocabulary terms. We fill in the chart together while having an active discussion about each word. This is a great way to meet the common core standards of speaking and listening. This also gives students ownership of the words and keeps them actively involved during the lesson.
