This is a vocabulary organizer that correlates to the reading series created by Scott Foresman "Reading Street". This goes with the poem "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere". The vocabulary organizer includes a definition, a place for a student written version of the definition, an area to draw a picture representation of the word, and an area to write an antonym and a synonym for the terms. All of these activities align with Marzano's vocabulary strategies.
I always display this chart on my projector each week as I introduce the vocabulary terms. We fill in the chart together while having an active discussion about each word. This is a great way to meet the common core standards of speaking and listening. This also gives students ownership of the words and keeps them actively involved during the lesson.
